Trying to achieve a rusty eroded paint finish can be made easier with the simple use of this household staple.
The type of salt you want is rock salt which is available from most supermarkets. You'll need to crush it down a bit depending on the size of the original crystals but you're after a variety of sizes ranging from powder to larger chunks.
As the video shows, the rest is pretty simple. Make sure you've got a convincing base paint coat as this is what will shine through. Wet the surface & sprinkle on the salt.
Then build up thin layers of topcoat over the salt. When done, just remove the salt by rubbing with a toothbrush. This lets the base coat appear where the salt once was.
You can repeat the process over & over again with different successive topcoats.
So watch our video for more details on how this technique actually works.
