Here’s another film in our new series of video reviews. We unbox Vallejo's "Black & White” figure painting set (Ref: 70.151).

Format: Streaming Media
Duration: 4 minutes 6 seconds
Free Video Content

This is a great idea to help figure painters of all eras because getting white & black fabric to look convincing is especially difficult.

In fact, this handy newly-released box set aims to simplify the task. There’s the usual 8 17ml acrylic paints in their familiar dropper bottles. Watch the video to get the precise references, but suffice to say, there’s all you could ever need.

The beauty of the set is not just the paint – which is up to the usual Vallejo quality. Inside, there’s also a photographic step-by-step painting guide to show you exactly how to achieve a perfect white or black effect. This fold-out leaflet is really useful, allowing novices to follow along & to know how to use the supplied colour as intended.

If you read it, you will see that some of the paints are used in an unexpected way. The greys for instance, are widely employed on the white fabric more than on the black as you might presume.

To sum up, it’s a great set. Don’t be fooled by the Medieval knights on the box, this is just as useful for snow camo suits or modern day “Black Ops” uniforms or even your World War Two Panzer crews. Now get painting!
