As part of our tutorial looking at making your own tarps, we scratch-built a canvas cover for our 1:35th scale Tamiya GMC (Ref: 35218). So we thought it would be a good idea to show how you can paint realistic canvas using acrylics.

For this video guide we used Vallejo Panzer Aces colours & we recommend this very handy range of paint shades for your modelling projects.

Using a bottle of their Canvas reference (Ref: 70.314) & progressively lighter passes, you can begin to emulate the look & feel of fabric.

To follow our method, you need an airbrush & we used our Iwata Eclipse & HP CH airbrushes with slightly diluted Panzer Aces mixes. However, any airbrush will work & get you spraying more & more realistic vehicle tarps.

For more details of how we did it, just hit play! Don't forget to submit your own videos or articles to the website too.
